Known as “The Gateway to the Lakes”, Eagle Point is located 12 miles from Medford along Highway 62 on the way to Crater Lake. With a population of almost 7,000 spread over a large area, this rural community of farms, dairies and ranches maintains its community spirit and "home town" atmosphere in spite of the growth that is taking place. Excellent services, great schools, friendly local merchants, a world class golf course, affordable housing, available large parcels of land and subdivisions, and the many hard working volunteers who devote their time and energy to preserving the city’s history give Eagle Point the conveniences of the "big city" and the warmth and friendliness of a small town.
Two museums (one of which is housed in a 1925 school house), a covered bridge, an operating flour mill, three parks, and many historic buildings create the feeling that you’ve stepped back in time to a quieter, more peaceful era. Eagle Point has existed since gold was first discovered in Jacksonville in 1852. Farmers and stock raisers saw this as a perfect area to settle and raise families because of the untamed natural beauty of the Little Butte Creek area. Eagle Point became the "Food Basket" for Jacksonville and later Medford. When Snowy Butte Mill was built in 1872, Eagle Point became a major trade center. A commercial district developed and the city became incorporated in 1912.
Annually the city hosts an Easter Egg Hunt, an old fashioned 4th of July celebration and a Christmas bonfire and tree lighting.
