Welcome to Butte Falls...
At an elevation of 2,600 feet, Jackson County's smallest town, Butte Falls, is located 40 miles northeast of Medford and is named as such because of the town’s waterfall which can be visited and viewed from a viewing deck built just for that purpose. A water-powered saw mill set at the falls on Butte Creek led to the town’s establishment in the early 1900’s and today the town is an incorporated community with a mayor and town council. There are two museums, a historical society, a library, and a school district. Its small population is served by two restaurants, a gas station and a general store.
Willow Lake is a high Cascade lake and offers breathtaking views of Mt. McLoughlin. The lake is home to wild geese, eagles, osprey, swallows, loon and deer. A stop at the Butte Falls Ranger Station will get you a map to help you navigate the Discovery Loop Tour. With camping and RV opportunities you can settle in for a while and fully explore this quaint and quiet little town. Or just come on by and spend an afternoon, have a picnic and enjoy the sounds of the waterfall.
