Illinois Valley Wild Blackberry Arts and Crafts Festival
2006 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Illinois Valley Wild Blackberry Arts and Crafts Festival. Begun in 1982 as a showcase for the work of local artists, the festival has grown to include many artists from all over the Western states and even Canada.
Held in mid-August (this year August 12 and 13), just as the native Oregon wild blackberries ripen, many food items for sale at the festival feature the blackberry as a primary ingredient. Blackberry themes are also evident on many of the visual art and craft items sold.
This year's festival promises to be the best ever. It will feature the work of local artists and craft-people in virtually every field of endeavor. Furniture, paintings photographs, toys, household items, homespun and woven fabrics, and many other items will all be displayed for sale.
And the performing arts will be represented, as well. Musicians and singers of all music genres will be on stage for your enjoyment. In between acts, Mark Russo will be plying his considerable talent as the well known local DJ, Boogieman.
